Mrs. Lorraine Price Perkins, age 96 of Toccoa passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Hospice Center in Gainesville.
She was born to the late Winfred Price and Mary Garner Price on March 20, 1925 in Franklin County, Georgia. She lived most of her life in Stephens County and was preceded in death by her husband, J. R. Perkins, sisters, Ione Morris, Genora Price, Faye Dickerson, halfsisters, Irene Yearwood, Naomi Gant, Louise Hardy and Gloria Jean Gibson and by step-brothers, Jule, Bury, Dorsey and Jim Hardy.
Lorraine was an office clerk during World War II at Camp Toccoa at Currahee and was later employed with Coats and Clark. She managed Martha Parks dress shop and several other retail stores and later co- owned and operated L & L Fabrics.
She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church and attended the Rhodes Sunday School Class. She enjoyed making people laugh and performed with the Off Beat Band playing the wash board, dancing around and often stealing the show. She also enjoyed dancing with husband J.R. to Big Band Music in the forties. Lorraine was a founding member of the VFW Auxiliary. She also loved to travel and organized bus trips for Diamond Tours.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, DiAnne and Mike Scott of High Point, North Carolina and Susan and Billy Perkins of Newnan, Georgia and special friend, Frank Stancil; grandchildren, Paige (Brent) Flotkoetter, Kevin Scott, Carrie (Adam) Hodgin, Craig and Blake Morris and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Alexa Flotkoetter; half sisters, Blondine Ivester of Atlanta, and Barbara Crooks of McCormick, South Carolina; step-brother, John Hardy of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2021, 2 O’clock p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with The Reverend Brent White officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Scott, Craig Morris, Blake Morris, Brent Flotkoetter, Adam Hodgin and Ethan Flotkoetter.
The family will receive friends at the Church Sanctuary on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
