Robert “Mac” Malcolm Jones
September 8, 1955 – July 4, 2021

Our beloved Mac was called home on July 4, 2021 where he found his Independence Day and Freedom with our Heavenly Father.
Mac was born in Floyd County Hospital, Rome, GA on September 8, 1955 to Doris Taylor Brookshire and Robert Lewis Jones.

He was predeceased by his father Robert Jones; sister Elizabeth (Jones) Matthews, and brother; Tommy (TJ) Jones.

Mac is survived by his wife, Lorie Jones of Gainesville, GA, his sons Anthony Jones of Nashville, TN and Chris Jones of Kennesaw, GA, his stepdaughter Amber Brown (Ricky Brown), stepson Michael Hobby, all from Gainesville, GA,; mother Doris Taylor Brookshire (Jerry Brookshire) of Cleveland, GA; sister Carrie Reese from FL;  seven grandchildren (Christian, Aiden, Logan, Danica, Skylar, Colton and Liam) that “Big Pop” loved very much.  Also numerous other nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. 
Mac graduated from Berry Academy in Rome, GA. where he also started his career in the automotive industry in parts distribution. He attended the University of GA in business administration where he played baseball for the Georgia Bulldogs. After leaving school, he played baseball for the Atlanta Braves (AAA) for several years while raising a young family. Mac got back into the automotive industry selling cars, reaching “top” sales many times throughout many years with Chrysler Dodge Ram and Ford. He loved all of his “car family” as they were family to him. Mac also spent some time racing the Nascar Arca Series, as well as a Master Diver for rescue and recovery in Cherokee County, GA and other surrounding counties. Mac basically lived out his “bucket list”. Mac joined the Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge in 2015, then into the Yaarab Shrine in 2016. He also became a 32nd degree Master Mason in 2016. Mac was the President of the Cumming Shrine Club and the President of the Oriental Band. He placed 2 nd in 2020 for the most money earned in sponsorships to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. He was in the parade unit, as well as volunteered countless hours in many other events at the Yaarab Temple. He loved all of his Shriner family dearly and danced the night away at many events and gatherings.
Mac was an avid motorcycle rider and said, “If you’re not doing what you love, then you’re wasting your time!” (his last FaceBook posting). He belonged to the Widows Sons Lions Paw Masonic Motorcycle Club, as well as the Watchers Motorcycle Club. He loved all of his brothers and he just LOVED TO RIDE!
He and Lorie joined several friends on the 911 Memorial Ride in 2016 from Roswell, GA to New York City, NY stopping to memorialize each crash site from September 11, 2001. What an amazing trip as it was 2,400 miles in 6 days on a bike. They met a lot of great people along the way and developed many lasting friendships. Mac never met a stranger. His faith in God and his deep patriotic roots made him the man he was and lived by those values. He always had a smile on his face, a hug for everybody and always willing to help anyone with whatever needed to be done, as well as taking others under his wing to guide others along the way.
Mac has spread his angel wings and is now soaring high. Heaven gained a great warrior on July 4, 2021. Mac was greatly loved and will be missed by everybody that knew him. Mac Jones loved and lived life to the fullest.
