David L. Broome

Mr. David L. Broome of Winder, GA passed away on July 3, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice at Gainesville Campus.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Grady White officiating. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

David was born at home in Gainesville, GA on March 17, 1948, to the late parents of Ernest and Grace Heaton Broome.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969 and was honorably discharged. He was a P.F.C. highly decorated soldier in the 1st Calvary in Vietnam. He was awarded two purple Hearts, Vietnam Service Metal with 4 Bronze Stars, A Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal, National Defense Metal, Combat Infantry Badge, Marksman Rifle Badge and M-16 Sharpshooter Badge.

He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, American Legion of Buford and Moose Lodge in Winder.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his half-brothers, Glynn and Lynn Heath; brothers, Ernest Lee and Charles Allen Broome; nephew, Adam Jones; brother in law, Lee Jones and Billy Ray Collins.

He is survived by live in soulmate, Patricia L. Given of Winder for 13 years. Also surviving are his brothers, Wayne, Buddy, James, Clinton Broome and their wives; sister, Linda Jones of Gainesville and nephew Alan Jones; a number of nieces, nephews, numerous friends and other relatives, and no children that loved or cared about him.
