Roxilea (Roxie) Jones Goble passed away peacefully at Northeast Georgia Medical Center on July 2, 2021 surrounded by family.
Roxie was born at Coker Hospital in Canton, Georgia on March 17, 1935. She was raised by her late parents, Elizabeth Archer Jones and Henry Grady Jones. She attended Pickens County Schools until she was 15 and then attended the Westminister School in Atlanta. After high school, she attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, Louisiana where she joined the Phi Mu Sorority like her mother and three sisters. She was President of Doris Hall.
Roxie married Joseph Homer Goble Jr. on November 20, 1955 in her parents’ home in Jasper, Georgia. They had three children: Joseph Homer Goble III, Dr. Henry Grady Goble, and Roxann Elizabeth Goble Manley. Her husband, Joe, was in the United States Air Force and they spent 25 years moving around the world. Roxie stayed busy raising their three children and being an "Air Force Wife." She held many positions in the Officer’s Wives Club. Roxie was President of the Albany, Georgia PTA School Council where she had PTA’s in 15 schools. She collected for all charities. Throughout the years she was a very active member in the Episcopal Church. Roxie loved everywhere they lived and loved the people she met.
After Joe retired from the Air Force, they settled down in Gainesville, Georgia in a house on the lake that had been the family vacation home for years. Roxie spent hours entertaining her young grandchildren all over that property. She also continued her strong community involvement.
In Gainesville, Roxie was a Member and President of the Fine Arts Study Club, Crabapple Garden Club, and especially Grace Episcopal Church. She spent 20 years as a Sunday School teacher and helped with the children’s chapel.
Roxie is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Grady Jones and Elizabeth Archer Jones; son, Joseph Homer Goble III; two sisters, Sarah Jones Gartrell and Sue Jones Ward.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Homer Goble Jr. of Gainesville; son and daughters in law: Dr. Henry (Ann) Grady Goble of Gainesville; Roxann Elizabeth Goble Manley of Athens, Georgia; and Nellie Goble of Talking Rock, Georgia; grandchildren: Michael Wayne Manley Jr., Elizabeth Ann Manley, Ava Goble Reeves, and Jackson Archer Goble; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Georgia. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Reception Hall.
