Mrs. Gwen Brown, age 47, of Dahlonega and Buford, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
Gwen was born in Canton on May 5, 1974. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law George Brown. Gwen was truly a beautiful soul having a gift of talking and giving comfort with her words and presence. She served in the Civil Air Patrol for 26 years earning the rank of Major and served as an Emergency Services Officer and Historian and served at various echelons including Wing, Region, CAP National and HQ Staff. Gwen graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Georgia on Mother’s Day in 2000. She was, in the words of her beloved husband, “one of a kind”. Gwen was a fan of Sci-Fi and loved attending the Sci-Fi Conventions.
Survivors include her husband Lt. Col. David Brown, Buford; sister Gail Blanchard Smith, Cumming; mom Rita Westbrook, Blairsville; mother-in-law Jeannie Brown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lyn and Ronnie Cantrell, and Shana and Craig Adams, all of Dahlonega; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 PM Saturday, July 3, 2021, at The River Community Church, 5043 Thompson Bridge Road, Murrayville, GA 30564. The Rev. Lyn Cantrell will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
