Naomi Sue Smith

Obituary Date: Tuesday, June 29, 2021

On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, Naomi Sue Smith, loving daughter of Steve and Marylu Smith passed away at the age of 57.

Naomi was a graduate of White County High School where she was an exceptional athlete.  She led the Varsity Basketball team in scoring as a freshman.  She played softball and was great at watersports.  She loved animals and raised a Holstein Cow (named Molly) from day one into a huge loving pet.  Naomi was a very kind person to all, never saying a bad word about anyone, especially her teammates whom she loved.

Naomi is survived by her mother, Marylu Smith; father, Steve Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah and Eddie Rushton, Anne and Mike Hyams, Gretchen and Brad Ash, and Rachel and Seth Weaver; and step-brother and step-sister-in-law, Ben and Tori Ford.  

Her grandparents were Bill Trupp, whom she was so fond of, and Eileen Trupp, and Elbert and Alma Smith.  Aunt and uncle, Lynn and Bruce Smith; aunt and uncle, Margie and Steve Woodman; uncle and aunt, Cal and Jennie German; and aunt, Bonnie Fox.  Her cousins were Scot, Eric, Andrea and David German; Burke, Stacy and Stephanie Smith; Nathan and Megan Woodman; Mike, Tom, Joe and Mindy Fox.

Naomi enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews: Luke (Kelsey) Rushton, Levi (Paulina) Hyams, Kali (William) Tench, Chelsea (Brian) Cantrell, Cole (Anna Beth) Smith, McKenna (Cody) Roberts, Mary Kate (Luke) Harris, Kristi Hyams, Riley Smith, Rockford Smith, and Jenna Ash.

Memorial services are scheduled for 7 P.M. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Mossy Creek United Methodist Church.  Rev. Tim Barrett will officiate.
