Leland Garrett, 89, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday June 27, 2021 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born April 28, 1932 to the late Ernest and Lula Garrett, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Leland retired as a mechanic for Peach State Ford following 18 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. A member of Harmony Baptist Church, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Hattie Grace Wallace, Mescal Little, Nadine Lynn, Winnie Brookshire, Bobbie Holland; and brothers, Kenneth Garrett, Leamon Garrett, Holmes Garrett and William E. “Junior” Garrett.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Norma Jean Garrett, Dawsonville; sons and daughter in law, Mike Garrett, Dawsonville, Roger and Penny Garrett, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Mallory Garrett, Dylan and Natalie Garrett, Kevin Garrett; sister, Pat Couch, Dawsonville; brother and sister in law, Wayne and Louise Garrett, Gainesville; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 2 o’clock at Harmony Baptist Church. Rev. Gary Coffey and Rev. Cole Duncan will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
