Rev. G.W. Major

Rev. G.W. Major, age 75, of Dawsonville, GA, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021. He was born in 1945, to the late L.C. and Addie Major. He was a member and home preacher of Ridgeview Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA. G.W. enjoyed woodworking and his little dog, Sophie. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Walter and Addie Mae, and nephew, Eddie Chester.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sue Major; children, Leslie (Rev. Joey) Wigley, Connie (Markal) Shields, and Denise (Troy) Westmoreland; siblings, Lewis (Eva) Major, Jimmy (Gayle) Major, Lois Johnson, Deborah Major, and Gaynell Major;  grandchildren, Andrew (Kelsey) Wigley, Ashley (Bradley) Montgomery, Daniel Harris, Caitlin Harris, Travis Westmoreland, and Justin Westmoreland; and great grandchildren, Grayson Hyder, Rylan Montgomery, and Noah Wigley (arriving soon); along with many other loving relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 24, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
