Janice Mae Echols, age 80 of Alto, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
Born in Demorest, Georgia on March 17, 1941 she was a daughter of the late Henry Lester Gerrin and Barches Eva McEntire Gerrin. Mrs. Echols worked in school nutrition for the Habersham County School System for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hudson Echols; brothers, Guy Gerrin, Kenneth Gerrin and Coy Lee Gerrin; sister, Betty Smith; son-in-law, Cecil Sosebee.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Jeffrey Echols (Patricia) of Toccoa; daughters and son-in-law, Donna Sosebee of Lula and Jan Hix (Danny) of Alto; grandchildren, Heather McDaniel, Crystal Caudell (Tyler), Hannah Bellamy (Dylan), Briana Martin (Matthew), Kara Murray (Jordan); 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Barney Gerrin of Clarkesville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Burch (Johnny) of Toccoa and Genell Smith (Monte) of Cornelia; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 pm, Saturday, June 19, 2021 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Clarence Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the funeral home.
