“We have had an adventurous life”, Miss Betty often said. Betty Ann Alred ‘s adventure ended on June 8, 2021, at age 87. Betty was born in Thomasville, Georgia where she met and married Glenn Alred. With the love of her life, her adventurous life quickly centered around two “darling” daughters, Karen and Katrina. Through the course of many employment relocations, she could be seen chasing the girls through the museums and monuments in Washington DC, down the sandy beaches in Florida, shooing a bear out of their camp site in Tennessee, weathering the blizzards of South Dakota, sheltering from the tornados in Kansas, the adventures seemed endless. Ten states later, the Georgia Peach returned home. She and Glenn enjoyed going on trips to the few states they had missed.
She loved playing golf with Glenn in the Destin FL sun where they made many memories with her grandchildren: Adam, Joel, Trevor, Brenna, Jeremy and Jourdan. She was a master bridge player and loved the challenge of playing duplicate bridge. And she was an avid reader.
Her focus was always centered on her family. She always had a comforting word wherever it was needed. Grammy loved cooking and family gatherings. Betty Ann was a loving mother and wife who continued to gather many friends along the way. She treasured her fond memories and recalled great stories up to the last day of her journey in life. We will miss her greatly and know in our hearts she is on the greatest adventure ever.
She is survived by her sister Virginia Bailey and brother Bubba Ellis; daughters Karen (Vince) Valades and Katrina (Dale) Eich, grandchildren, Joel (Carrie) Valades, Brenna Valades, Jeremy Valades, Adam (Mary) Eich, Trevor (Jessica) Eich, Jourdan Eich; great grandchildren Addison, Owen and Avery, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Glenn, her mother and father Jewell and Owen Ellis, and her sister Sue.
