Mr. William Junior Simmons, age 83, of Dahlonega passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021.
Junior was born in Lumpkin County on February 3, 1938 to the late Cicero and Jeanette Lowman Simmons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Harold Southern. Junior painted cars for several years before he began working at Torrington. He loved his job and the people he worked with and retired after many years of dedicated service. Junior was a member of Yahoola Baptist Church. He was loved deeply and will be missed by his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife Nellie Simmons; daughter and son-in-law Penny and Jerry Lunsford; brothers Robert Simmons and Albert Simmons; sister Murrell Bearden; his grandchildren who lovingly called him "Pa", Lyndsey and Clint Freeland and Laura Lunsford; great-grandchildren Jack Freeland, Rhett Freeland and Evy Freeland; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell and the Rev. Kris Butler will officiate. Interment will follow in Yahoola Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
