Willie H. “Bill” Sanders

Mr. Willie H. “Bill” Sanders, age 89 of Maysville passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at his residence.  Mr. Sanders was born on November 6, 1931 in Jefferson to the late, Arthur H. and Mamie Turpin Sanders.  He was self-employed as a Master Barber for 63 years, he owned and operated Bill’s Styling Four in Gainesville until his retirement in November 2012.  He was a member of Holly Springs United Methodist Church, a member of the Masonic Gainesville Lodge 219, and was instrumental in establishing the Plainview Fire Department, where he was a member for 37 years until his retirement in 2016.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Sanders was also preceded in death by his brother, J.T. Sanders; and his sisters, Mary Sanders Highfield and Mildred Sanders Garrison.

Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife of 69 years, Johnnie Scott Sanders of Maysville; son, Ricky Sanders (Barbara) of Maysville; grandsons, Scott Sanders (Kelly) and Rob Sanders (Staci) both of Jefferson; granddaughter, Tabitha Evans (David) of Commerce; great grandchildren, Jenna, Hart, Hudsyn, and Holt Sanders of Jefferson and Parker and Carter Evans of Commerce; sisters, Betty Lee of Maysville and Hazel Sanders Landrum (Tom) of Winterville; brother, James Sanders (Loree) of Pendergrass; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 9th at 11:00 AM from Holly Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Roe Callaway officiating with interment following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday night from 6-8 PM.  Those honored to be pallbearers are Clyde Dacus, Burt Sanders, Jerry Love, Randy Ragan, Barry Moore, and Dennis Marlow. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Standridge, James “Sonny” Cheatham, Dwight Langford, and the six great grandchildren, Jenna, Hart, Hudsyn, Holt, Parker, and Carter.
