Robert Maybank Preston, known to those who loved him as Bob or Pop was called to his heavenly home Saturday, May 29th. Born January 10, 1950 during a snowstorm in Pewee Valley Kentucky the youngest of three to Charles and Mary Preston.
As a youth his first love was football at SouthWest High School in Atlanta, GA. After graduation he went on to attend The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He was very proud of his service to his country in the Air Force Reserves. He worked in Retail servicing the Greater Atlanta area until retiring. After retirement you could find him on his boat in Lake Lanier, finding new adventures with his wife Michelle, on the sidelines of his grandchildren's ball games, and in the service of his church. Bob was an active member of Vision Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA.
He never met a stranger. Always warm and welcoming to all. His loving christian spirit touched many lives and his influence will be remembered by those who knew him. "Roll Tide!" will never sound the same.
He is preceded in death by his parents and oldest son, Rob Preston.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Michelle Preston and children Jill Preston McPherson, Bethany Preston, Brian Carson, Jason Coleman (Jessica), and Jared Coleman (Leah). Loving Grandfather to Kadyn, Karson, Jocelyn, Jayla, and Juliana and siblings Charles Preston (Gloria) and Walt Preston (Meryl).
Visitation will be held Friday, June 4th 2021 from 12-2pm and 5-8pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
Celebration of life service Saturday, June 5th 2021 at 11am in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 9am-11am before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Vision Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
