Jack Galloway Hawkins

Obituary Date: Thursday, May 27, 2021

Mr. Jack Galloway Hawkins age 78 of Gillsville, Ga passed away on Thursday May 27, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday June 01, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Phil Parks will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 30, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jack was born on July 20, 1942 in Gillsville, Ga to the late Frederick Hawkins and Nanalean Griffin Hawkins. He was retired from Cable Consultants where he worked as an electrician for many years and attended Eastview Baptist Church. Jack was a self-taught musician beginning at the age of 16. He was in a bluegrass, country and gospel band called the Dixie Ramblers for many years. While attending Fairview Baptist Church he played the Electric bass in the Band. He played multiple instruments such as bass guitar, acoustic guitar, dog hound bass, autoharp, and the electric guitar. He was also a member of the #715 Masonic Lodge in Gainesville, Ga.

Jack is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dianne Hawkins of Gillsville, daughter, Jackie Hawkins of Clarkesville, son and daughter-in-law, James (Ann) Hawkins of Cleveland, step-daughter, Ginger Daniel of Gillsville, grand-daughter, Jade Ladd and Jordi Ladd, great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Madison, Wyatt and Skye.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA  30504 is in charge of arrangements.
