Jean Healy

Obituary Date: Sunday, May 23, 2021

The Lord welcomed Jean Healy into his arms on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 after her brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

One of ten sisters, Jean grew up in Harris County, Georgia helping her Daddy with the farm, picking cotton, tending crops, and enjoying the joys of a large family. Jean carried on that tradition when she married Maurice “Duke” Healy in 1957. Together they had five children who then gave them ten wonderful grandchildren. A devoted Mother and Granny, her home was filled with love and a wonderful sense of belonging that was felt by every visitor.

Jean was a hard-working Southern Lady of many talents. She was a gifted seamstress, avid gardener, birdwatcher, crossword aficionado, and an accomplished cook – no one ever left her house hungry. She was a devout Baptist, finding great comfort in her Church and fellow parishioners. Jean worked right up until after her (82nd birthday?) and appreciated the many years she spent working for Billy Shipley.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, and eight of her sisters. She is survived by her sister Anne, her many nieces and nephews, and her children and their families, Mary Beth Calhoun and husband Tommy; Sylvia Bulger and husband Mitch, and their two children; Greg Healy and wife Jenn, and their two children; Keith Healy and girlfriend Melissa, and his two children; and Charles “Glenn” Healy and wife Angie, and their four children.

A private service will be held to celebrate Jean’s life. Should you wish to honor her memory through donation, please consider a dedication in her name to the American Cancer Society and/or the Alzheimer's Association.
