Nellie Bell Arnold Burgess

Obituary Date: Tuesday, May 18, 2021

Nellie Bell Arnold Burgess, age 81 of Alto, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. 

Born in Baldwin, Georgia on August 16, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Johnny Arnold and Pauline Dalton Arnold. Mrs. Burgess retired from Carwood Manufacturing after many years of service. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Wilson Burgess; brothers, Jesse Arnold and Reuben Krockum; sister, Ruby Myers. 

Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Ernest Lee “Pete” Burgess of Alto and Doug & Virginia Burgess of Eastanollee; grandchildren, Nathan Burgess, Joseph Burgess, Andrew Burgess, Lauren Burgess and Stephanie Burgess; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Friday, May 21, 2021 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Chad Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Mud Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
