Gerard Michael Carroll, “Jerry”, 58, of Cumming, Georgia passed away May 10, 2021 peacefully at home. He was born March 28, 1963 in Miami, Florida to Gerard Joseph Carroll and Mary Elizabeth Carroll.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy, and children, Ryan, Matt, Emily, Conner, and two daughters-in-law, Becca and Mackenzie. In addition, he is survived by his six siblings and their families: Colleen Alu, Maureen Geiser, Tommy Carroll, Christine Fleming, John Carroll, and Katie Carroll.
Much of Jerry’s youth was spent in Dunwoody, Georgia where he graduated from Dunwoody High School in 1981. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from West Georgia College. He was an avid runner, cyclist, swimmer and loved competing in 10Ks, biathlons, and triathlons. Golfing, fishing, and watching college football were some of his favorite past-times.
He was most passionate about his family and the time he spent coaching, watching them compete in their sports, and spending time with them on family vacations. Over the years, he spent countless hours in the Atlantic Ocean, on the ski slopes of the Rocky Mountains, and everywhere in between. No matter where or when, you could catch him with a smile on his face, a funny joke to make you laugh, and an incredibly positive attitude about life.
Jerry was a humble, loyal, and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His charismatic personality left a lasting impression on all lives he touched. Once referred to as “one in a million” truly reflected who he was. He lived a rich life, not in a material way, but in his relationships and lifetime experiences. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he was a part of. May he rest in peace with Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends at McDonald and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Jerry’s memorial service will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Jerry’s honor to Defeat MSA Alliance at http://defeatmsa.org/donate-to-us.
