Virginia Tyler Matthews

Virginia Tyler Matthews, age 88, of Hoschton, GA passed away Monday, May 10, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Alton L. Matthews. She is survived by her daughter, Angela (Donald) Sloan of Dacula, GA; son, Scott (Angela) Matthews of Stockbridge, GA; grandchildren, Kyle Matthews of Calhoun, GA, Erica (Andrew) Wise of Hokes Blount, AL, Rachel (Zachary) Hendrickson of Aurora, CO; Kevin (Anastasia) Sloan of Cumming, GA; great grandchildren, Milana Sloan, Alifair Hendrickson, Ava Wise, Sebastian Wise; brother, John R. Tyler of Conway, SC; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Matthews was born August 9, 1932 in Conway, SC. She was a graduate of Conway High School, Conway, SC and Columbia College, Columbia, SC with a Bachelor’s Degree. She was a retired administrative assistant. She was a member of the Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. Interment services will be held  at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 11^th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
