Dr. David John Miller went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2021 surrounded by his wife and children and their spouses. He was born in St. Louis Missouri on August 22, 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deward and Helen Miller of St. Louis, Missouri.
David loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting, and spent almost three years sleeping under the stars. He was an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor of the Order of the Arrow. He started his graduate career at the University of Missouri and finished up at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He was a member of the Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary, Vice Chair of the Holly Theatre, Treasurer of the Friends of the Dahlonega Gold Museum, Board Member of Enotah Casa, Lumpkin County Board of Health member, and District 1 County Commissioner. He was also chair of the Lumpkin County GOP. He truly loved Lumpkin County.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dr. Sue Miller; son Alexander and daughter-in-law Helen Miller; daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Zachary Webber; sister Deborah and brother-in-law Jon Wingo; and sister Donna and brother-in-law Gordon King, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at Dahlonega Funeral Home on Sunday May 16, 2021 at 3pm with the Reverend Steve Schofield officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday May 15, 2021 from 5 pm until 9 pm and again on Sunday from 12 pm until 3 pm Interment will follow the funeral service at Dahlonega Memorial Park.
