Jack Howard Nance

Obituary Date: Sunday, May 9, 2021

Mr. Jack Howard Nance, formerly of Wildwood Road, Greenville, passed away on Sunday, May 9th, at North GA Assisted Living in Dawsonville, GA.

Jack was born in Gaffney, SC on October 26, 1932 to Frank and Annie Mae “Biddie” Evans Nance.  He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and of the University of SC.  He also served in the United States Coast Guard.

For 20+ years, Jack worked for Stone Manufacturing Company and then went on to work for the Greenville County School system where he retired after 10 years of employment.

Jack was a longtime member of Northgate Baptist Church where he served for many years as a deacon.  He will be fondly remembered for his love of the Carolina Gamecocks, his love of pets, his huge dimples when he smiled, his undying efforts to pull a joke on someone, his tenaciousness in finding a good deal, and his impeccable gift of chatter.

He is predeceased by his parents and his wife, Patti Jones Nance.  He is survived by his daughters, Janice Nance Campbell, (Doug) of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Dawn Nance Boone, (Glenn) of Cumming, GA and his grandchildren, Brian Campbell (Lindsay) and Tyler Campbell, Jackson and Bradley Boone.  He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Nance Childers of Gaffney and a niece, Lynn Childers Clary, (Jackie) of Gaffney.

Because of last year’s covid restrictions, we were unable to hold a service for his wife, Patti, so a joint service for them will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 2:00 at Northgate Baptist Church, Greenville, SC.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  A private burial will be held at a later date.

A special thank you to the entire staff at North Georgia Assisted Living and Agape Hospice for their love and care for not only our dad but for our family as well.

We respectfully request that flowers be omitted and donations be made in dad’s memory to any of the following:  Northgate Baptist Church, Wren Hospice, or Agape Hospice.
