Rev. Anthony Eugene Hooker

Rev. Anthony Eugene Hooker, age 57 of Maysville, Georgia took his heavenly flight home on Friday, May 07, 2021.

Born in Dalton, Georgia on June 21, 1963, he was the son of Rev. Gene & Bessie Knight Hooker of Cleveland, Tennessee. Anthony served his country proudly as a United States Marine, surrendered his call into the ministry in August of 1978, and was a part of Rock of Ages Prison Ministries for over 10 years. He was currently employed as a supply operator with Mars-Wrigley with many years of dedicated service. In his spare time, Anthony enjoyed woodworking, writing poetry, and was a big American History enthusiast. Most of all, he loved his wife and children tremendously. Anthony was a member of Glory Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Chris Hooker and father-in-law, Rev. William Hoyt "Buz" Simmons.

Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Angie Simmons Hooker of Maysville, GA; sons & daughter-in-law, Andrew Hooker, Kyle & Sarah Hooker, Daniel Hooker; daughter, Elizabeth Hooker, all of Maysville, GA; granddaughter, Sadie Hooker of Maysville, GA; parents, Rev. Gene & Bessie Knight Hooker of Cleveland, TN; mother-in-law, Joan Simmons of Clarkesville, GA; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Juanita Hooker Welborn, Amy & John Moon all of Clarkesville, GA; niece, Megan Moon of Clarkesville, GA; nephews, Shane & Jennifer Hooker of TN; John Avery Moon of Clarkesville, GA; great-nephew Ayden Eash and great-niece Ava Hooker of TN.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gene Hooker & Rev. Randy Roys officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Gardens Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
