Doris Ann Cagle Blalock, age 86, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at her home on May 7 with her two sons by her side. Mrs. Blalock was born in White County but spent most of her childhood living in Gainesville. She returned to White County as an adult and married Talmadge Blalock. She joined Cleveland Worship Center and remained a member there the rest of her life. She served many years as a Sunday School Teacher and also served as church secretary. She greatly enjoyed her many years working at her son's florist and home store. She also enjoyed her many years of working as a poll worker on election days and helping with the Census. She had the unique experience of being a telephone switchboard operator during the filming of "I'd Climb the Highest Mountain" and handled many phone calls for the actors and staff.
Mrs. Blalock is survived by her three children, Lynn Lancaster of Gainesville, Terry Blalock of Cleveland, and Sid Blalock of Cornelia; three grandchildren, Emily Lancaster Barron, Daniel Blalock, and Katie Blalock McDougald; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Mable Cagle; her husband of 55 years, Talmadge Blalock; her sisters, Gwen Weaver and Carol Parker; and her grandson, John Lancaster.
A private graveside service will be held at Gateway Memory Park in Cleveland with the Rev. Marc Turner officiating.
