Mr. James “Jim” Dooley, II, age 72 of Gainesville passed to his eternal rest on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Jim was born in Quincy, MA to James E. Dooley, I and Nancy Lou Dooley Cotter, who both preceded him in death.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army and in the United States SeaBees.
Jim was a loving husband, father, papa and friend. He is survived by his wife of 51-plus years, Peggy Dooley; family, Shawn, Dana and Kaylee Grace Dooley all of Gainesville; Beth, Tony and Hadassah Sharon Wilcox of Carlisle, OH; Rose, Cody and Katherine Rose St. John of Zenia, OH; “brother” Russell Elrod; sisters and brothers in law, Frances and Clint Hancock of Eatonton, GA, Wilma and Zach Grier of Lula, GA, Doris and Jim Lawrence of Gainesville and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jim had a big, big heart. He never met a stranger and was a true friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed for his love, his great sense of humor and his incessant teasing. He loved to travel and fish. Jim, rest in Jesus until we meet again….
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Sinner Point Fellowship 4960 Flat Creek Rd. Oakwood, GA 30566. Rev. Emmett Belgard and Rev. Don Hand will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service on Saturday.
