Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Reverend James Bascom Skelton, age 90, of McDonough, Georgia, who passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021. Reverend Skelton was born in Jackson County, Georgia, a son to the late Leonard and Maude Cheek Skelton. Reverend Skelton has served as the Minister of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hoschton, Center Union Baptist Church in Braselton and started Revival Baptist Church in Hoschton, and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Reverend Skelton was also a veteran, serving in the United States Army. In addition to his parents, Reverend Skelton was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Annette Tate Skelton, son, David Bascom Skelton, one brother and three sisters.
Reverend Skelton is survived by his wife, Nancy Joyce Fox Skelton, of McDonough, GA; daughter, Sue Ann Brooks and her husband Steve of Portland, OR; son, Rev. Tim Skelton and his wife Katrina of Dothan, AL; a number of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren also survive.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Skelton and Rev. Daniel Shane Skelton officiating. The burial will follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
The visitation will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Evans Funeral Home, prior to the service.
