Dr. Teresa Matherley Quesenberry

Obituary Date: Monday, April 26, 2021

On Monday, April 26, 2021, Dr. Teresa Matherley Quesenberry, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at 57. Teresa was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to Thomas and Loretta Matherley. She was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee and moved to Atlanta, Georgia as a young adult.

Teresa earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from UTC and completed her Doctorate from Vanderbilt in 1998. She married Dr. Paul Quesenberry in 1995. They raised two wonderful children, their daughter Rachel and son Caleb.

Teresa was a strong Christian wife and mother who lived her life in service to God and her family. She lived her life based on her favorite Bible verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, Philippians 4:13”. Teresa’s heart was full of love and compassion. She loved to celebrate special occasions with her family. She always made sure to make the day special and let you know how much she loved you. Along with her love of God and family, Teresa was passionate about education.

She believed education was essential to improving the quality of life for not only individuals but also their families, the community, and society. She was a difference-maker, and the world is a better place today because of her life.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father and is survived by her husband Paul, their two children Rachel and Caleb, her mother Lorretta, brother Lamar, sister Sandy, nieces Nicole and Marley, nephew Chris, father-in-law Klel, brothers-in-law Kwin and Mike, sisters-in-law Dency and Bobbie, along with several cousins.

The family encourages you to share any stories, memories, or photos on the Tribute Wall to help celebrate Teresa’s life. Due to COVID, a memorial will be planned at a later date.

In place of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Teresa’s name to the American Heart Association:  https://www.heart.org/en/get-involved/ways-to-give
