Zerdies G. Thomas

Zerdies G. Thomas was born January 20, 1933 to the late Mildred Williams and Homer Hardy. She departed this life on April 5, 2021. She was preceded in death by her daughter Adrian Y. Thomas. Zerdies graduated from Fair Street High School, then moved to Boston, MA with her daughter Sandra Denise Harris, where she met and married LeRoy Thomas. To this union, 3 children were born: Myron, Loris and Adrian Thomas. She worked at Boston State Hospital for several years then went to work for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority until she retired and returned to Gainesville GA in 2001. Zerdies loved to travel, meet new people, and visit historical and exotic new places. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as an usher and a member of the Senior Mission. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home. She leaves to cherish her memory; two daughters Sandra D. Harris of Gainesville GA, and Loris T. Rockette of Boston MA; one son Myron T. Thomas of Compton CA; one sister Edith Slaughter of Gainesville GA; four granddaughters: Ashesha Rockette of Boston MA, Kendall Harris of Long Beach CA, Jorden Rockette of Westford MA, and Maya Thomas-Irvin of Virginia Beach, VA; one grandson Zaeden Rockette of Boston MA; nieces and nephews: Travon, Bonita, and Jolane Mack, Mia Latimore, Christopher, Myron and Torrey Williams, Devin and Diane Tolbert, Ricky and Bobby Lawson, Donald and Kathrine Thomas and host of family and friends. The visitation will be held at Wimberly Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 27th between the hours of 12-8pm. The Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, April 28th at 1pm at First Baptist Church. Professional Service Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
