Merle S. Caldwell, 92, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021. Merle was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Eunice Stanley, her husband Cecil Caldwell as well as her sister Dorothy Stanley Galley. Merle is survived by two stepsons Gary Caldwell and Terry Caldwell of Dacula GA, Grandson Kevin (Ashanda) Caldwell of Navarre FL; sister Verna Davis of Lavonia GA. Nephew Jack (Gloria) Odom of Summerville SC, nieces Deborah Black of Savannah GA, Donna Davis and Donnie Lockridge of Lawrenceville GA and Elanor (Jim) Casteel of Flowery Branch GA. Great niece Stephanie (David) Cannon of Monroe GA and Great nephew Matthew Davis & Kelly Grasso of Loganville GA.
A special mention goes to the 3 ladies who stayed with and assisted Merle :Kerrie Bundy, Betty (Betsy) Vandervoet and Robin Jerrells.
The family asks that flowers please be omitted and memorial contributions please be made in Merle's name to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice, 2150 Limestone Pkwy, Suite 222, Gainesville GA 30501. Their services went above and beyond anything we could imagine and we would not have been able to fulfill her wishes without them.
A private family interment will be held at the Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, Ga. A celebration of Merle's life will be held on Saturday, May 8 2021, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Albanese will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the service between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
