Jerald D. Phillips

Jerald D. Phillips went to be with our Lord and Savior at 12:20 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2021.   Born October 28, 1936, in Greenwood, S.C., he was preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt E. Phillips and Clara Austin Phillips, and his beloved wife of 13 years, Bonnie Corley Phillips.  Jerald graduated from Greenwood High School. He then enlisted and served in the Air Force for four years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Georgia State University. He spent approximately 60 years as a heavy equipment sales broker.   Jerald was a hard-working man who loved Jesus, his family and his friends. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs and was undoubtedly their biggest fan. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Atlanta and the Gideon’s Society. He handed out Bibles wherever he went, including the hospital and rehab facilities where he resided the past few months. He was bold about his faith and wanted everyone to know Jesus. He was an avid outdoorsman and golf enthusiast.    Survivors include his brother, Carroll (Gayle) from Lake Placid, FL; niece Celeste (Jason) and their three children; nephew Shane (Blenda) and son; four children: Jerry (Cindy), Michael (Patty), Steven (Julie), and Jennifer; and two step-children, Lynn (Bobby) and Chip (Stephanie).  He also had nine grandchildren, Jenna, John (Leigh Anna),TJ (Liz), Corwin (Morgan), Peyton, Isabella, Reagan, Samuel, and Henry. Additionally, three great-grandchildren and one on the way, Laney, Anna Jewel, John Thomas, and Esther.   A celebration of his life will be held at First Baptist Church Buford at 4550 Hamilton Mill Road Buford, GA 30518 on May 1, 2021.
