Caleb Matthew Griffis

Caleb Matthew Griffis, age 20 of Tallulah Falls, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021.

Born in Gainesville, Georgia on February 2, 2001, Caleb is the son of Stan and Tamara Martin Griffis.  He was a 2019 graduate of Tallulah Falls School where he was a Georgia Merit Scholar.  While at TFS he was a Co-captain of both the Track and Field and Cross-Country teams and he was also on the Bass Fishing Team.  While in high school, Caleb was a Washington Youth Tour Delegate for Hart County EMC.  Upon graduation, Caleb was awarded an Army ROTC Line Scholarship at Clemson University where he was currently studying Economics and Financial Management and was a member of the Deans List.  He was currently Squad Leader of Alpha Company, 1st Platoon, 4th Squad (A-1-4). Caleb had recently competed in the Ranger Challenge and was Team Leader Elect for that unit.  He was awarded Cadet of the Month recently and also earned the German Armed Forces Badge.  Caleb was awarded a slot in the United States Army Air Assault School that he was to attend in August.

Caleb was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved to hunt, fish, hike, camp and do all things outdoors.  Caleb had a very strong work ethic and was always fully committed to whatever task was at hand.    He was an extremely loyal friend and always wanted to be a source of support and encouragement to his peers. Caleb was currently attending NewSpring Church, Clemson Campus.  He was preceded in death by grandfather Sidney Griffis.

Survivors include parents Stan and Tamara Martin Griffis of Tallulah Falls, brother Caden Griffis and sister Carsyn Griffis both of Tallulah Falls, grandparents Marvin and JoAnne Martin of Dahlonega and Barbara and Doyle Cain of Anderson, SC, aunts and uncles Stacey and Kelly Griffis of Fair Play, SC and Darren and Shelly Martin of Dawsonville, girlfriend Madison Ball of Tiger, as well as numerous cousins, extended family members and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 5th at Level Grove Baptist Church, Cornelia.  Interment will follow the service at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 4th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Caleb Griffis Scholarship Fund that will be established at any branch of United Community Bank.
