Douglas Wayne Matthews, Sr.

Douglas Wayne Matthews Sr., 72, of Gainesville died Friday April 2, 2021. Doug was born in Gainesville on June 20, 1948 to the late James C. and Anna Bell (Chapman) Matthews.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Charles Truelove of Gainesville; sons Douglas Wayne Matthews, Jr. of Jefferson, James Martin Matthews of Gainesville, and Robert Miles Matthews of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Taylor Newton of Jefferson, Ashley Newton of Nags Head, NC, Anna Matthews, Connor Matthews, and Brook Matthews, all of Gainesville; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday April 6, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 2:00 p.m. April 7, in the Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Bill Coates will officiate,  with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
