Sarah Frances Woodall Worley

Obituary Date: Wednesday, March 31, 2021

Sarah Frances Woodall Worley passed away peacefully in Demorest, Georgia.  Ms. Worley was born in Turnerville in Habersham County, Georgia on August 25, 1935.  She was the daughter of the late Lester and Edith Woodall, and was their oldest child.

Sarah was an incredibly strong, smart, loving, brave, and hardworking woman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glynn Venson Worley,  with whom she shared a blessed life for 51 years.  She is survived by her two daughters, Tanya Worley Quickel of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Ethelda “Erica” Worley Peace, of North Palm Beach, Florida.

Ms. Worley graduated from Tallulah Falls High School and moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she worked as a bookkeeper for the J. M. Tull Company.  She lived in the church boarding home with her dearest friends Nora Cannon, Ruby Smith, and Annette Maxwell.  She remained lifelong friends with these dear women.  She became engaged to Glynn while he served in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy.  Upon leaving service, Sarah and Glynn worked in Atlanta until 1959 when they married at Lakemont Baptist Church and returned to Turnerville to build their home and raise their two daughters on their farm.

Sarah actively worked in her community attending Turnerville Baptist Church and Bethlehem Baptist Church where she volunteered tirelessly with vacation bible schools, weekly prayer services, missionary work, and women’s prayer groups.  Sarah was an amazing cook and always helped with every dinner-on-the-ground, meals for the needy, and church and community celebrations.  She taught bread making classes and was known for her delicious home-made whole wheat crescent rolls, fresh coconut cream pies, and lemon meringue pies.  Sarah loved to travel and always wanted to take “the scenic route”!  She and Glynn shared many good times with friends and were very active in the Lion’s Club and numerous community events.

Sarah was a devoted homemaker and mother to her husband and two active daughters.  She taught her daughters to be independent and to take care of themselves.  She made sure the girls took every lesson, class, trip, and opportunity possible.  She and Glynn put both girls through college and were thrilled to see them achieve successful careers.  Sarah was always a happy, positive person who worked to help in any way possible.  She appreciated the kindness of others and always tried to help.
