Rev. Earl E. Jarrard, 79, of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Ken Anderson, Rev. Larry Watkins, and Rev. Josh Land will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Born on July 29, 1941 in Hall County, he was the son of the late Earl Eugene and Sally Hunt Jarrard. He was retired from Reliance Electric and a member of Canaan Baptist Church.

Earl had two loves – first his Lord followed by his wife of 60 years. He served as a minister for over 50 years, pastoring Macedonia Baptist Church from September 1986 to February 2010. His life’s mission was to spread the message of John 3: 16, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son”. When he was not pastoring, he was serving. He loved to preach revivals, cut grass for shut-ins and work at the food pantry. Earl has been a mentor to many including his family and young pastors. Truly, Earl embodied “a good and faithful servant”.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Jarrard is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise Newell Jarrard and brother, Dennie Lee Jarrard.

Rev. Jarrard is survived by his brother, Robert Jarrard of Dahlonega; nephew, Randy and Suzanne Jarrard of Gainesville; nephew, Ricky Jarrard of Athens; sister and brother in law, Jennie Lou and James Barbee of Gainesville; niece, Glenda Barbee of Gainesville; nephew, Jimmy Barbee of Gainesville; sister in law, Brenda Jarrard of Jefferson; niece, Jessica and Michael Cook of Pendergrass; niece, Alicia and Patrick Bates of Jefferson; sister in law, Arrahwonah Woodall of Alto; niece,  Yvonne Woodall of Gillsville as well as a number of great nieces and great nephews.
