Bennett, Betty Sue Hansard of Cumming passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Betty was born Oct. 6, 1936 in Cumming, GA. She was the 9th. child of William Shelton (Littler) and Clura Cook Hansard. The family moved to Roswell Ga. when Betty was 6 years old, where she grew up and graduated from Roswell High school in 1954. Betty worked for American Mutual Insurance Company for 10 years.
On March 22, 1958 Betty married the love of her life, Gene Bennett, they made their home in Brookhaven where they raised their two sons. The family was very active in Brookhaven Baptist Church, in 2005 the family moved back to Cumming, GA and became members of the Cumming Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Gene of almost 63 years, son, Alan and Lynne Bennett of Peachtree Corners and son, Reverend Ken and Deborah Bennett of Blue Ridge; 5 grandchildren, Allyson and Tyler Greene, Amy and Brett Davis, Zachary and Kelly Bennett all of Peachtree Corners, Katheryn Bennett of Nashville, TN, and Jessica Bennett of Augusta, GA. 7 great grandchildren, Graham, Gavin, Addy Reese, Walker, Tinsley, Kate, Davis. Brother, Billy and Cathy Hansard, sister-in law Florene and Byron Kay, 4 sisters in law, Anne Hansard, Teresa Bennett, LaVon Bennett and Deborah Bennett.
Betty was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Grace McPherson, Ruby Sweatman, Bonnie Sudderth, Dot Coleman, Lola Morris and 3 brothers, Carlton, Edward, and Robert Hansard.
A family graveside service was held at Sawnee View Gardens with Rev. Barry Crocker and Rev. Jamie Archer officiating.
