Mrs. Carolyn Dove Thomas, age 75, of Cleveland, Ga passed away on March 08, 2021 following a brief illness.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend and Mrs. Ronnie Carder will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday March 13, 221 from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Carolyn was born on May 12, 1945 in Carnesville, Ga to the late Charlie Dove and Mary Dove. Carol was an active member of New Hope Ministries Church since 1988 and Lanierland Christian Center before that, which is where they were married. She married Lawrence in 1974.
She was very involved in her church, where she taught VBS every year to the children. She and Lawrence were in every Christmas and Easter program at the church. She helped with dinners, singings, fundraisers, Easter Egg hunts, fellowships, and every other event at the church. If the church was hosting an event, she could be depended on to be there with a smile on her face. She was an ordained minister, and visited homebound members from the church and community and delivered Holy Communion to them.
She worked at Dogwood Forest in Gainesville, worked as a private sitter for several years, and was a Hospice volunteer, read stories to children in local schools, and loved going to see all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Mawmaw” She and Lawrence enjoyed attending musicals and plays, concerts, Braves baseball games, church, but most of all gatherings with family.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Thomas of Cleveland. Her sister Johnnie Ridgel of Shreveport, LA, Her sons Allen Thomas (Sabrina Nelson) of Acworth and Daniel Thomas (Mj Bridges-Thomas) of Colbert, daughter Robin Lowry in heaven, and stepdaughter Laurie Colter of Juliette. Grandchildren: Montana Thomas and Savannah Thomas of Gainesville, Courtney Shelton and Cameryn Nelson of Acworth, Dacey-Grace Thomas and Draken Thomas of New Mexico, Jason Mallette of Daphne, Alabama, Kristina Mallette of Cleveland, Brandon (Madison) Mallette, Timothy Mallette, Benjamin Lowry and Jonathan Lowry from Wetumpka, Alabama, Step-grandchildren Tripp Colter (Allison) of Ellaville, Tyler Colter of Gray, and Cody Colter of Juliette. Great-Grandchildren: Hunter and Michael Mallette of Daphne, Alabama, Emberley and Aaron Mallette of Wetumpka.
Due to Covid-19, the family requests that everyone attending the visitation and service wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
