Shirley Della Grizzle

Obituary Date: Wednesday, March 10, 2021

Mrs. Shirley Della Grizzle, age 84, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021. She was born on April 2, 1936 in Dawson County to the late Nay Howard and the late Flossie Covington Howard. Shirley will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and caregiver. She was always willing to help anyone and everyone. In the evenings she could often be found in the kitchen cooking a delicious meal for all of the neighborhood kids. It was common for her to have a house full considering that she lived on an oasis for fish and game where friends of her kids would often come to camp out. She loved her pets and always had cats, dogs, birds, ducks, and chickens to enjoy. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. For many years she worked at Gold City Convalescent Center where she is still remembered for her caring and loving personality towards the residents and their families.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, L D Grizzle; granddaughter, Lela Ritchie; brothers, Charles (Geneva) Howard and Hugh Howard; sisters, Barbara Reed, Geraline Stephens, and Juanita Wigginton; sisters-in-law, Gwen (Dillard) Norrell, Deanie (Jewell) Justus, and Ostena Grizzle; brothers-in-law, Fred Grizzle and Clyde (Betty) Grizzle; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Duffie and Elsie Grizzle.

She is survived by her sons, Tim Grizzle and Mike Grizzle; sisters-in-law, Diane Howard, Maxie Garrett, Blonnie Summerour, and Mae Lee; brother-in-law, Judd (Cunnie) Grizzle; and grandchildren, Kaylee and Mason Workman and Sophia Garcia.

Graveside Services are scheduled for Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Dahlonega Memorial Park with Rev. Jason Fuller and Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The family would like to thank all of the many family and friends that helped over the years with visits, food, gifts, and prayers. Special thanks to sister-in-law Mae Lee for the many years of help, love, and support that she gave to Shirley and L D during their time of sickness.
