Olivia Minor Whelchel

Olivia Minor Whelchel of Gainesville, Georgia graduated to Heaven on March 8, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Lois Minor, husband, Claude Ben Whelchel, her brothers and sisters in law, Hugh Jr. & Lorraine, Henry & Margaret, Everett & Pat Minor, Edwin & Janette Hulsey.

Survivors include son, Ben & Lela Whelchel, daughters Judy Garner, Annette & Jim Black, Anita & Jeff Cantrell and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Olivia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked as a lunch lady at River Bend and retired from Belk’s.  Mrs. Whelchel was an active member of  South Bend United Methodist Church.  Among many talents she was a talented seamstress and did alterations in the community for many years. “Nanny Whelchel” was beloved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by all.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9th and 12:00 p.m.-2:00 pm Wednesday, March 10th at Little and Davenport Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm  Wednesday March 10, 2021 in the  Little and Davenport Chapel. Rev. Richard Long will officiate.   Internment will follow at New Bridge Baptist Church, Gainesville.
