Kathryn Vaudell Burt Stephens

Obituary Date: Friday, March 5, 2021

Kathryn Vaudell Burt Stephens, 80, of Dawsonville, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 5, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Born January 29, 1941 to the late Joseph Monroe and Dosha Mae Burt, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.  A homemaker at her death, she had formerly worked in the Convenience Sales Industry.  Vaudell faced her cancer diagnosis with the same courage, determination, faith and good spirit she exhibited throughout her life.  She left a personal legacy of kindness, faithfulness and devotion to her family.  A member of Bethel United Methodist Church, she had served as a Trustee, Sunday School teacher, youth leader and was currently a member of the Kiwanis Sunday School Class.  Vaudell had attended Lumpkin Campmeeting all her life.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Christopher Burt “Chris” Stephens; sisters, Shirley Jean Cofield, Betty Jo Arrendale; and brothers, Samuel Burt, Merlin Burt.

Surviving are her children, Lanier Stephens, Dawsonville, Sharon and Randy Allen, Gainesville, Katrina and Keith Holbrook, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Brandi and Chris Thornhill, Amy Stephens and Jereme Davis, Kasay and Carl Gambrell, Kaleb Holbrook and Chloe Beacham, Sam Allen, Charlie Allen; great grandchildren, Jae, Soren, Luke, Ella, Savanna; sisters, Maude Harben, Dawsonville, Dora Arrendale, Dahlonega; brother and sister in law, J. M. and Marie Burt, Alpharetta; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 8, 2021, at 2 o’clock, at Bethel United Methodist Church.  Dr. David Sanders, Dr. Orin Sampson, and Judy Harmon will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m.  until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family respectfully requests that everyone abide by the COVID-19 restrictions and follow the distancing guidelines.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
