Barret Eldridge “Dan” Boone, Jr., 86, peacefully passed into the arms of his loving Savior with his daughters by his side, Monday March 1, 2021.
Born in East Orange, NJ, Dan moved to Cumming, Georgia in November, 1998 with his third wife, high school sweetheart Shirley. After Shirley’s passing in 2017, he moved to Dawsonville, GA.
A sports enthusiast, Dan ran track in high school, played basketball in high school and at Colgate University, and was an avid and long-suffering Mets fan who looked forward to attending spring training each year.
Dan worked in sales for many years but also loved to drive, so toward the end of his career he got his CDL to become a limo driver. His gift of gab served him well in both arenas.
Dan was proud to be a Kentucky Colonel and a long-standing member of New Hope Methodist Church in Gainesville, GA.
Son of the late Barret E. Boone, Sr. and Sophia Antoinette “Toni” Boone, he is also pre-deceased by his three wives Shirley, Ada, and mother of his children, Gilda Sellers.
Surviving are one brother, David Boone of FL, two daughters Toni Campbell and Becky (spouse Jim) McNellis of NJ, a son Matthew Boone of NJ, stepson and stepdaughter Jim MacGregor (spouse Chrissi) and Vicki Sill (spouse Bill) of GA, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dan’s name to New Hope Methodist Church of Gainesville, GA, Samaritan’s Purse, or the Salvation Army.
