Ella Etheleen Jenkins Hooper

Obituary Date: Tuesday, March 2, 2021

 

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel for Ella Etheleen Jenkins Hooper, 93 of Gainesville. Rev. Danny Jones & Chaplin Jimmy Casey will officiate. Burial will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 5, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hooper passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021at the Beehive Homes of Gainesville. She was born in Hall County to the late Andrew Conrad Jenkins & Katie Pearl Haynes Jenkins. Mrs. Hooper was a gifted seamstress of exquisite wedding gowns, ladies’ suits, formal and casual dresses for family, friends and a versatile clientele. She made all her daughters’ clothing growing up including beautiful velvet coats. At one time she owned her own fabric shop on Thompson Bridge Road. She worked several years at Sears in the catalog department. She spent her later years working in the lunchroom at Lanier Elementary School to be close to her grandsons when they started school. Her favorite past time was working in her yard planting and tending to her favorite flowers and shrubs. Mrs. Hooper was a founding member of Northlake Baptist Church in Murrayville and was the treasurer of her Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Northlake Sonshiner’s Group.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Aubrey Mack Hooper; brothers, Johnny, James, Rufus, Eugene & Andrew Jenkins; sisters, Alice Little, Connice Martin & Mary Edith Gillespie.

Survivors include son & daughter in law, Douglas & Maritza Hooper of Lilburn, Donald L. Hooper of Gainesville; daughter & son in law, Dana & Gregory Wigley of White, GA; grandchildren, Melanie Hooper of Lilburn, Alex Cuda of Ackworth, Andrew & Candace Cuda of Dallas, Ashley & Scott Malley of Lilburn; great grandchildren, Lucas lee Sipple-Cuda, Liam Anthony Malley, Logan Mack Cuda & Nora Melah Malley; sister & brother in law, Elsie & Harold Thompson of Tucker; sister, Fannie Black of Cumming; brother in law, Donald Hooper; sister in law, Micki Hurley plus many nieces & nephews that span over four generations.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Beehive Homes of Gainesville, 1073 South Enota Drive, Gainesville, GA 30501 or to the Northlake Baptist Church Building Fund 4823 Thompson Bridge Rd. Gainesville, GA 30506. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to BeeHive Homes of Gainesville and Homestead Hospice for their compassion and dedication to our mother.
