Mr. Charles “Chuck” Broadus Phillips Jr., age 71, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021.
Chuck was born in Rutherfordton, NC on November 1, 1949 to the late Charles Sr. and Frances Dobbins Phillips. A soldier at heart would best describe Chuck. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He re-enlisted two times serving many tours of duty which included Viet Nam as a door gunner. When he reentered, he was part of the Military Police. He earned many medals but was most proud of the Distinguished Flying Cross. Chuck’s love for his country lived on after his honorable discharge and his service continued to his fellow man. After his military career, he continued serving as a police officer in Blue Ridge. His giving heart and helping hand will be forever remembered. Everyone knew that if you needed anything, all you had to do was give Chuck a call.
Survivors include his sisters Penelope Phillips, Gainesville and Linda Gove, Perry; fiancé Kyle Hardy, Dahlonega; numerous children that he was a mentor to; numerous co-workers he claimed as family; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Chuck’s wishes were to be cremated and no public service to be held.
