Loy Dow Reid, 88, a lifelong resident of Forsyth County passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021. Loy was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War from 1950-1953. Following his military service, he was a steel worker with Siemens AG and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Loy is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Reid; son, Bruce Dow Reid, parents, Clifford Dow and Viola (Bryant) Reid; sisters, Martha (Reid) Brisco, Madge (Reid) Corbin, Margie (Reid) and Weldon Monroe; brother and sister-in-law, Juas and Ozzie Reid; son-in-law, George E. Perkins, Jr.; parents-in-law, Bill and Ina (Cook) Elrod; sister-in-law, Barbara Elrod; brothers-in-law, Robert Elrod, Randall Elrod, Marcus (Buster) Elrod.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Reid Perkins; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Carla (Duke) Reid, Anthony (Tony) and Kim (Bennett) Reid; sister-in-law, Sue (Morgan) Elrod; grandchildren, Thomas (Tommy) and Andrea Henderson, Chance and Chelsea Reid, Destini (Reid) and Mikey Brannon, Jared and Franchesca (Burkhead) Reid, Kendall Reid, Chevy (Reid) and Jonathan Roper; great grandchildren, Cody and Skylar Roper, Caitlin Henderson, Annabelle Chumbley, Cody Dillard, Emeryson Brannon, Charlotte Reid, Norah Reid; great grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Karr; great great grandchildren Owen and Easton Karr; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside funeral services, with military honors, will be held Sunday, February 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
