Richard Oliver Murrow

Richard Oliver Murrow age 86 of Gainesville entered rest Saturday February 20, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Murrow was born August 17, 1934 in Athens, Georgia to the late Elmer & Vera Underwood Murrow. He served his Country in the United States Air Force. He was retired but had worked for Chevron Oil Company and was the Civil Defense director for Clarke County. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he loved to sing in the choir. Mr. Murrow was preceded in death by his brother, Marcus Murrow & sister, Helen McGuire.

Survivors include his loving wife, Frances Murrow; sons, Tony (Tammy) Murrow, Todd (Patti) Murrow & Tim Murrow; daughter, Julie (Greg) Osborne; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren also survive with a host of other relatives.

Celebration of Life services will be held privately at 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 27, 2021 at the Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Adam Erwin  officiating.
