Joseph Perry Weaver, age 70, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 following a brief illness.
He was born in Bucktown in Gilmer County February 21, 1950. He served his country in the United States Army from 1968-1974. He had many trade talents including carpentry, floor sanding, building and masonry, and spent the past 22 years as co-owner of Foothills Retirement Home in Dahlonega, GA. Perry was a talented musician who could play anything with strings, and was even invited to play at the BlueBird Cafe in Nashville, TN at one time. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Zennie Weaver; brother, Jack Weaver; nieces, Teresa and Patsy Weaver, Maggie Patterson, Nancy Mullis and Britney Cardenas; sisters-in-law, Cathy Weaver, Ruth Weaver, and Jean Weaver; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Glenn and Inez Gilstrap Head; and brother-in-law, Ricky Head.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Glenda Sue Weaver; children, Jody and Debbie Weaver, Russell Butler, Cindy Butler and Bobby Skinner, and Adam Butler; grandchildren, Dustin Jarrard, Eli McMillian and Hannah Autry, Owen Butler, Chrissy and Stevie Ray, Bubba Skinner, Will Skinner, Shelby Skinner, and Lilly Skinner; great-grandchildren, Parker Jarrard and Jameson McMillian; sisters and brothers-in-law, Polly and J.B. Bearden, and Peggy and Charles Hood; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hoyt and Peggy Ann Weaver, and Mark and Barbara Weaver; brothers, Fred Weaver and Jim Weaver; and sister-in-law, Doris Weaver. Numerous nieces and nephews, many friends, and a host of other relatives also survive.
Due to COVID, the family will have a private viewing.
A graveside service is scheduled for family and friends at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
Everyone is asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Rev. Kris Butler and Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.
Military Honors will be provided by the Veteran's Honor Guard.
