Lonnie Ray Evans

Mr. Lonnie Ray Evans, 68, of Gillsville, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville Campus following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 in the Parlor of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Shane Evans will officiate. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, February 19th from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

 Due to Covid-19, the family requests that everyone attending the visitation and service wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Born on June 22, 1952 in Commerce, GA, he was the son of Janey Lou Evans and the late Rufus J. Evans. He was retired from Healan Construction and a veteran of the United States Marine.

In addition to his father, Mr. Evans is preceded in death by his sisters, Future McCallister, Nancy Evans; grandmother, Reedy Farmer and sister in law, Rita Evans.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vicky Carol Evans of Gillsville; daughters and sons in law, Connie Evans Owensby (Darren) of Commerce, Bonnie Williams (Eddie, Jr.) of Nicholson, Kristy Vaughan Harris (Chad) of Cleveland, Tabitha Denise Tanner of Gillsville, Kimberly Lee (Andrew) of Gainesville; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brother, Robert Evans of Banks County and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
