Cicero Paul Singleton, Jr.

Mr. Cicero Paul Singleton, Jr. was born on February 8, 1947 to the late Cicero Paul, Sr. and Dora M. Singleton in Gainesville, GA. He was the sixth of eleven children. Paul, as he was called by family, attended Gainesville City Schools, Fair Street Elementary and E. E. Butler High where he played the saxophone as a member of the band until he graduated in 1965. After graduating from high school, Paul joined the United States Army where he served as a Military Police Officer. After returning home from the military, he worked as a Prison Guard at Buford/Gwinnett County Jail Facility. He later attended and graduated from Lanier Tech in Gainesville, GA with a degree in Computer Science and Data Processing; he also attended Atlanta Area Tech after moving to Atlanta, GA to continue his studies in Computer Science. He later relocated to Carson City, NV where he remained for several years, working as a chef in Reno, NV., He also worked as short order cook at Ansley’s Dairy Burger in Gainesville, GA. Paul was extremely outgoing and made friends easily. He was a man kindly referred to as “A Jack of All Trades”. He was of the Baptist faith. Paul returned to Gainesville in 2009 to be closer to family and was quite active until his health began to fail. He departed this life on February 8, 2021 at Piedmont Hospital in Fayetteville, GA. It was his time to be born, as well as his time to die. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Paul Rashad Singleton; two brothers: John H. Moore, Joe L. Moore; and one sister: Ellen V. Singleton. He leaves to cherish his memories a son: Aaron Tanner; two brothers: Sylvester Singleton of Snellville, GA and Albert P. Singleton of Secane, PA; four sisters: Ollie J. Young, Bernice Singleton, Alice G. Harbin, & Alwayne (Cecil) Randolph all of Gainesville, GA and M. Lynn (Robert) Brundage of Lula, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Wimberly Funeral Home at 1:00 pm.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 between the hours on 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM.  Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
