Mary Lillian Boney

Obituary Date: Wednesday, February 10, 2021

Mary Lillian Boney 92, of Commerce, Georgia, died at the home of daughter Janice Lindsey and went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. She longed to join her husband Bill Boney who preceded her in death in July of 2011.

Mary was born in Valdosta Georgia on June 28,1928 to George Washington Jackson and Lillian Martin Avera Jackson. Mary graduated from Andrew Jackson High School class of 1947 in Jacksonville, Florida where she then spent most of her adult life.  She met James William Boney (Bill) at Training Union at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and they were married there in 1949.

Mrs. Boney worked as a secretary for Snap-on-Tools and Packer Corporation until she began a career as a Legal Secretary and Paralegal. A skilled paralegal practitioner, she worked for the firms of Blackburn & Blackburn, Skip Rothstein Associates, Muscoff & Cockrell and other prestigious firms. She received her Paralegal degree from FJC at Jacksonville with honors.

Mary and Bill were active members of North Jacksonville Baptist Church where they raised their children and later members at Mayfair Baptist and First Baptist Church of Jacksonville before retiring to Buford Georgia in 2004 to be near their children and grandchildren. Mary was a Women’s Bible Study and Sunday School Teacher for many years and a WMU Leader.

Mary was a faithful member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Buford, Georgia, and a regular attendee of Zion Hill Baptist Church until her move to Commerce, Ga in 2015. She is the longest living sibling of her family, (Brother Earnest Monroe Jackson, Aubrey Wendel Jackson of Jacksonville, Florida and Myrtle (Sheng) Smythe of Thomaston, Georgia), all preceded her in death. Mary is also preceded in death by one daughter Faith Katherine Boney (1954) and husband James William Boney (Bill).

Mary is survived by two daughters, Belinda Gindlesperger (Allen) and Janice Lindsey (Michael); four grandsons, Mitch Gindlesperger (Melissa), Andy Gindlesperger (Amanda), Derek Gindlesperger (Kelly), and Adam Lindsey (Abbey); Six great-grandchildren, Mason, Miles and Merritt Gindlesperger, Bailey Gindlesperger and Jake and Avery Lindsey; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mrs. Boney will have her ashes buried alongside those of her husband Bill in a joint family memorial service at the cemetery of Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens & Chapel, at a later date. Out of respect for continuing concerns over the coronavirus, no formal funeral service will be held.  The celebration of her life will continue in the legacy of her children and grandchildren and forever in our hearts. Her celebration began on Wednesday when she entered through the gates of her home country and was greeted by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Well done good and faithful servant, your eternity is secure.  Donations in her honor may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church of Buford, Georgia or the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center of Gainesville, Georgia.
