Linda Carol Cox Palmer of Hoschton, GA went to be with the LORD early Sunday morning after battling several difficult illnesses. A viewing will be held at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel & Gardens in Buford, Georgia on Friday February 12 at 1 PM, and a funeral service will follow at 2 PM.
Linda was born to Edna Reeder Cox and Dr. DeWitt T. Cox on August 23, 1951 in Panama City, Florida as the first of four children. Linda’s loving, Christian home traveled throughout Florida and Georgia with her parents and younger siblings: Anna McEver, Dr. Frank Cox, and Susan Berrong as part of her father’s ministry. Linda was baptized by her late father in the Summer of 1959 with her younger sister, Anna. Linda graduated from Sequoya High School in Panama City.
She met her husband, Jerry Palmer, after being setup on a blind date by a mutual friend. They married July 25th, 1970 as he returned from the Vietnam war. Linda was a loving mother to 3 daughters, Leslie Weaver, Jennifer Palmer, and Jeri Lynne McClelland. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren Joshua, Jordyn, Deborah, Makayla, Amber, Josiah, Natalie, and Jeremy.
Linda poured her life taking care of her home and family. She provided more than a childhood home, but a soft place to land for her adult children when experiencing difficult times, and even helped to raise several of her grandchildren. The last years of her life were spent as the primary caregiver of her husband.
Linda was preceded in death by her father Dr. DeWitt Cox, and survived by her mother Edna Cox, husband of 50 years 7 months Jerry Palmer, all three daughters, her sons-in-law Ron Weaver and David McClelland, and eight grandchildren.
