Horace Daniel Owens

Mr. Horace Daniel Owens, 82, of Gainesville passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021.    

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Dryman and Rev. David Simpson will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Due to Covid-19, it is recommended that everyone attending the service wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Born on April 16, 1938 in Scaly Mountain, N.C. he was the son of the late Luther and Beatrice Dryman Owens. Mr. Owens was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from CD C where he was a machinist.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens is preceded in death by his son, James Edward Scoggins; daughter, Pamela June Pavlovec; great grandson, Caleb Blewer and sister, Lavonne Crow.

Mr. Owens is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Owens of Gainesville; daughters, Denise Lopez of New Orleans, LA, Lydia Long of Seneca, SC; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Betty Adams of Gainesville, Barbara Delong of Gainesville; brother  and sister in law,  William and Carolyn Owens of Flowery Branch; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wounded Warrior.
