Mrs. Ruth Amantha Norris Pitts, 71, of Toccoa, GA, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA from heart complications and other health problems.
Ruth was born in Stephens County Toccoa, Georgia on November 9, 1949 and raised in Oconee County SC. She was married to her loving husband, Glenn Pitts on September 24, 1995 at Weldon Road Baptist Church; she was a devoted wife and they were married 25 years and together for 31 years. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church of Westminster, SC.
Ruth worked as a Seamstress, Production, and as a Waitress. She took great pride in any work that she performed. She enjoyed Reading the Bible and learning about Our Heavenly Father, Sewing, Crocheting, Drawing, Cooking and being a homemaker.
She is survived by husband, Glenn Pitts of the home; children, Harold Roach and wife Amanda of Eastanollee, Melissa Turpin and life-partner Michael Roach of Martin, Tabitha Timmerman and husband Lonnie of Wasilla, AK, Perry Pace and wife Kristy of Demorest, Angie King and husband Peter of Toccoa, Jane Pace of Toccoa, Mark Pitts of Eastanollee, Tina Duncan of Eastanollee, and Wendy Harris and boyfriend Timothy Partain of Hartwell; grandchildren, Nikki Roach White (Jacob White), Kaylee Roach, Kensey Turpin (Allysa Turpin), Giddeon Van Slyke (Ashley Van Slyke), Donevan Van Slyke, Gabriel Van Slyke, Daniel Van Slyke, Sara Beth King, Clayton King, Haley King, Stormy Butler, Ashley Butler, Jason Duncan, Ashley Duncan, and Madison Harris; great-grandchildren, Kaiden White, Bailey White, and Arya Van Slyke; brother, William Norris and wife Janice; sisters, Faye Mize, Mae Weaver, Macie Cox, Virginia (Jenny) Wood, Cynthia (Dale) Smith, and Martha Pitts; and a great number of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Ruth is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Loranzia Norris, children Gregory Roach and Sabrina Dotson, siblings Tracey Bohannon, Tiny Gibby, and Robert Norris, and son-in-law Ronald Duncan.
Visitation and a Celebration of Life Pot Luck will be held at 2:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Cleveland Rural Fire Department Community Building, 605 Cleveland Pike Road, Westminster, SC. We will be gathering to share some of everyone’s favorite covered dishes, fond memories, stories, photos, and music, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderful person that is greatly missed.
