Charlene Turner Porter, Clermont, Georgia passed away Sunday February 7, 2021 at Manor Lake Memory Care with her family at her side.
Charlene was born August 14, 1929 in Dodge City, Kansas. She was the third child born to the late A.C. and Lucile Turner. During the Great Depression Era, her family traveled from Kansas to Corpus Christi, Texas. She had fond memories in Texas as a child going barefoot and visiting the Gulf of Mexico.
Charlene moved to Atlanta in 1947 and married Thomas Richard Porter. She raised four children and then worked 26 years for Dekalb County Schools transporting special education students. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Charlene enjoyed spending time gardening & doing yardwork. She loved her flowers!
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, a daughter, Terri Meisenheimer, a grandson Benjamin Vaughan, and a brother, Melvin Turner. She is survived by three children Luanne (Lucy) Porter Vaughan and husband Allen, Josh Porter and wife Kim, Jon Porter, and wife Mary, a sister, Norma Turner, nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Due to concerns for Covid safety, a graveside service will be held at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Clermont, Georgia at 2pm on February 13, 2021.
